Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Dradjad Hari Wibowo said the government was seeking to sustain economic growth momentum through various stimulus measures in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2026.
"To maintain growth momentum, the government is implementing year-end 2026 stimulus programs, including public assistance initiatives such as new bank account openings, Wage Subsidy Assistance (BSU), and transportation incentives during the 2026 Christmas and 2027 New Year holidays," Wibowo said in a statement on Sunday.
He said the Christmas and New Year holiday period presented an important opportunity to support national economic growth.
"Like school holidays and the Eid al-Fitr holiday period, Christmas and New Year holidays bring increased public mobility. This, combined with higher consumer spending, will stimulate economic activity across regions," Wibowo said.
"The impact extends beyond tourism to include trade, handicrafts, small industries, household businesses, and other sectors. Therefore, the government considers it important to ensure that people can travel safely, comfortably, and affordably," he added.
Regarding transportation incentives, the government has allocated Rp883 billion (around US$48.7 million) for discounts across four modes of transportation during the 2026–2027 Christmas and New Year holiday period: rail, sea transport, ferry services, and air travel.
Meanwhile, data released by Statistics Indonesia (BPS) on Thursday (November 5) showed that the economy grew by 5.47 percent year-on-year (yoy) in the third quarter of 2026, up from 5.29 percent in the previous quarter.
On the expenditure side, economic growth in the third quarter of 2026 was primarily supported by domestic demand, particularly household consumption.
Household consumption grew by 5.04 percent yoy, supported by increased public mobility as well as various entertainment and sporting events.
"I would like to reaffirm the government's commitment to continuing to introduce policies that respond to public needs, maintain purchasing power, and create conditions that support strong, inclusive, and sustainable national economic growth, with benefits reaching the wider population," the deputy minister said.
